What is video doorphone system?
The video doorphone system (also known as video intercom) is an independent system, used for communication management between the visitors and the habitants of residential or office buildings. The system allows audio and video conversations, depending on the user’s preferences. The main difference between audio and video doorphones, is that the videophone allows the residents of the building to see who is looking for them, and if they want to – to answer or to let the visitor in their office/ home.
This is what makes them extremely reliable. In combination with access control system, you can provide your home or business much higher level of protection, compared to the conventional door locks and bolts.
The doorphone panel is the only element which is installed to the façade of the building. The important, sensitive elements are installed in secure and inaccessible places. This makes the direct manipulation and forced opening extremely difficult.
The specialists recommend the use of video doorphones to be combined with access control systems. This way your home or business will have maximum protection. The access restriction of unwanted visitors, will keep your property safe for longer time. Automatic door lock prevents from draughts (maintains temperature), dust, odors and noise.
Elements of the system
The video intercom system consists of three main elements - push-button outdoor unit (call-buttons), a mechanism for electronic lock of the front door (access control) and video indoor phone.
Outdoor push-button unit
The push-button unit is mounted next to the front door or gate of the building. It consists of a module with call buttons, which are provided with address/name labels for visitors’ convenience, a built-in microphone and speaker for calls and a built-in camera, equipped with a powerful backlight and a night vision mode.
Video indoor phone
The video indoor phone allows residents to see each visitor and to decide whether to talk to them and give them access to the building. Each indoor phone allows you to adjust the ringtone volume, that guarantees you comfort and peace of mind, if you do not want to be disturbed, or you have a small child who is asleep. The videophone also allows precise adjustment of picture – contrast and brightness, so that it can be used in rooms with varying degrees of brightness without affecting its functioning.
The mechanism for locking the front door can be operated from any indoor phone. Electronic locks are, by far, more secure and reliable than conventional locks, and in many cases they are more inexpensive and easier to install and maintain.
Cabling and mounting
The modern video doorphone systems are designed to be easy to mount and maintain. You can choose between different types of cabling, so that the system would be the most suitable for your building and not the contrary. Most of the modern video doorphone systems do not require the use of a coaxial cable, and are fully compatible with copper, CAT5 cable, which reduces the costs for the installation of the system. The most common types of cabling are the following: 4 + 1, 7 + 1, 6 + 1. In most cases, outdoor units are available in versions for surface and hidden mounting, so that to have an easier installation and the most possible good-looking end product.
